Marked Tree Red Shiraz
Wine
Collector Wines Marked Tree Red Shiraz is handpicked from vineyards in and around Murrumbateman in the Canberra District, in a mix of granite and shale soils.
Most Collector wines are named after the artworks of Canberra artist Rosalie Gascoigne. This wine is named after Marked Tree Road overlooking Lake George, where Gascoigne would often sit and work.
The wine is Shiraz with a small portion of Viognier. The grapes are open fermented with whole bunches and natural yeasts. Pigeage, or punching down, gently extracts flavour and tannin from the grape skins.
The wine undergoes natural malolactic fermentation and matures in new and seasoned French oak barrels prior to blending and bottling.
Lively crimson, Collector Wines Marked Tree Red Shiraz has a sturdy spine with dark fruits, subtle spice and a savoury, textured mouth feel. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
